60 Engineering Practitioners Inducted at GhIE’s 44th Induction Ceremony

Ghana Institution of Engineering Inducts 60 New Engineers

The Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) inducted 59 new Professional Engineers and one Professional Engineering Technologist at its 44th induction ceremony held at the Engineering Centre, Roman Ridge, Accra, on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

During the ceremony, the President of GhIE, Ing. Kwabena Bempong, reminded the inductees that this event marked the beginning of their professional journey. He emphasized that the field of engineering is dynamic and filled with challenges that require creativity, resilience, and determination. “The world is changing, and with that change comes the demand for forward-thinking engineers who are prepared to take on new responsibilities with an innovative spirit,” Ing. Bempong said. He assured the new engineers of GhIE’s continued support, providing mentorship and collaboration to elevate the engineering profession in Ghana and contribute to the betterment of society.

Ing. Bempong administered the engineering pledge to the inductees, urging them to uphold the honor and dignity of the profession, avoid self-promotion, and always prioritize the safety of human life.

The Chairman of the Membership Committee, Ing. Dr. Patrick Amoah Bekoe, presented the 60 inductees, who had completed the Professional Engineering Examinations in July/August 2024. The breakdown of the inductees included 30 Civil Engineers, 11 Mechanical/Agric Engineers, 11 Chemical/Mining Engineers, and 8 Electrical/Electronic Engineers. One inductee from the Civil Technical Division also became a Professional Engineering Technologist.

In his address, Past President of GhIE, Ing. Leslie Alexander Ayeh, emphasized the importance of engineering in the development of countries. He urged the new engineers to remain committed to continuous learning and research, drawing inspiration from their peers in developed countries to deliver quality and sustainable infrastructure.

The ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including the President-Elect of GhIE, Ing. Hesse Ludwig; Vice-President of GhIE, Ing. Sophia Abena Tijani; Chairman of the Ghana Engineering Council, Ing. Dr. Kwame Boakye; Registrar of the Engineering Council, Ing. Isaac Bedu; and various other GhIE members and family members of the inductees.
