Guinness World Records (GWR) has refuted claims by Ghanaian content creator Clementina Nkrumah, known as Afua Nash, regarding her attempt to set a record for the longest eating marathon.

Afua Nash had promoted her event as a four-day, seven-hour, and 20-minute non-stop eating marathon set to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024, and streamed live on the Savage Room show at Afropod Studios. The campaign, which included various social media flyers, generated considerable public interest.

However, GWR clarified on its official Twitter page that it no longer recognizes records for extended eating marathons. While the organization previously tracked such achievements, it has since updated its guidelines, now focusing on consumption records based on speed rather than duration, with attempts typically lasting up to three minutes depending on the food type.

Afua Nash has not yet responded to GWR’s clarification, but the incident has sparked discussions about the authenticity of record-setting attempts.
