The Ghana Culture Forum has officially launched a new website during an event at the Accra Tourist Information Centre on November 26, 2024. The website will serve as a platform for sharing valuable information and educational content on Ghana’s arts, culture, and heritage.

At the launch, the Chairman of the Forum, Nana Otuo Owoahene Acheampong, emphasized the critical importance of having an active online presence. He stated, “If you don’t have an active website, you will be doing business in the dark, so it is very important and crucial that we all contribute to it.” He also encouraged stakeholders to support the platform and announced that the Forum would soon unveil its programs for the upcoming year.

“In January 2025, we will introduce our activities for the year, focusing on key areas aligned with our mandate, particularly advocacy,” he added.

Carl Ampah, UNESCO’s Programmes Officer for Culture in Ghana, highlighted the significance of the Ghana Culture Forum, noting the role UNESCO played in its creation. He urged stakeholders in the cultural and creative industries to make the most of the website.

“The website will be a vital tool for reaching young people, helping them understand the importance of culture, their identity, and taking pride in who they are, no matter where they are,” Ampah explained. He also pointed out that the website would feature historical information about Africa, aligning with UNESCO’s initiative to document Africa’s history from the African perspective. “Once everything is settled, we hope to provide links to be posted on the site,” he added.

The Ghana Culture Forum aims to strengthen the capacity of cultural practitioners, lead advocacy efforts on key cultural policies and legislation, and conduct research to support important activities in the cultural and creative industries.
