President Akufo-Addo announced that the overall progress of the Agenda 111 project, which aims to build hospitals across the country, has reached 69%.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo highlighted the progress of the Agenda 111 project, announcing that eight district hospitals are nearing completion.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo reported that the overall progress of the Agenda 111 project stood at 69% as of September 2024. He expressed confidence that several facilities, currently over 90% complete, would be finished before the year ends.

“These projects fulfill our commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage and delivering more efficient healthcare services nationwide,” the President remarked on Friday, October 18, 2024, during the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

He also noted, “Our healthcare infrastructure stands as one of the greatest legacies of my administration.”

In addition to expanding infrastructure, the Akufo-Addo government has concentrated on addressing the uneven distribution of healthcare workers, especially in rural and underserved areas. The President urged the Ministry of Health to expedite the completion of a draft incentive package designed to ensure healthcare staff are deployed where they are most needed. This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to make healthcare services more equitable across the country.

“We remain committed to addressing the uneven distribution of healthcare workers,” the President stated. “I urge the Ministry of Health to expedite the completion of the draft incentive package for government consideration, ensuring that healthcare staff are deployed where they are most needed.”
